Mozambican President calls on young people to be resilient and innovative

Mozambican President calls on young people to be resilient and innovative

Mozambique's President Daniel Chapo today called on young people to be "innovative, resilient, and supportive," promising continued efforts to invest in this sector and ensure the country's development.

"Be innovative, resilient, and supportive. Use your talent to create solutions, generate opportunities, and inspire positive change. Your potential is limitless, and your contribution is essential to achieving the economic independence and social well-being we deserve," reads the Mozambican President's message on International Youth Day, which is celebrated today.

In the message, released by the Presidency, Chapo indicates that "Mozambican youth are the living force that carries the dreams, energy and creativity" necessary to transform "challenges into opportunities", promising that the Government will strengthen public policies aimed at youth, which, the statement indicates, is a priority for the head of state.

"My Government recognizes that investing in youth means investing in the sustainable progress of the Nation," he assured, listing as priorities the need to promote quality education, professional training, access to employment, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and the active participation of young people in political, social, and cultural life, as stated in the message.

The head of state once again asked young people to ensure peace in the country, including national unity and social responsibility as a guarantee for the future.

On August 8, at the opening of the 8th National Youth Conference, the President asked the country's young people to reject the "gospel of hate" and fight for opportunities, warning that lamenting and giving up "is not the solution" to the current challenges facing youth.

"Regretting isn't the solution, nor is giving up. We must pursue opportunities, pursue our dreams, aim high despite the challenges, because the great winners in this world, the great victories of great leaders, are achieved after great battles," he added.

Today marks International Youth Day, which this year is celebrated under the motto “Young people promoting multilateral cooperation through technology and partnerships”.

The Institute for Multiparty Democracy (IMD), a Mozambican non-governmental organization (NGO), previously called on young people to actively participate in political dialogue aimed at state reforms, as it marked International Youth Day.

"The ongoing national dialogue represents an opportunity that young people cannot afford to miss. Therefore, we urge young people to organize, actively participate, and influence the process, ensuring that the results of this dialogue reflect the aspirations, priorities, and vision of this generation," the NGO said in a statement about today's event.
