According to him, commercial gas in Kazakhstan is currently subsidized at the expense of exports.
"The QazaqGaz company suffers billions of losses every year. In order to smooth out this situation and prevent QazaqGaz from defaulting on external obligations, as well as to ensure a stable and reliable supply of gas to consumers, a decision was made to gradually equalize the price to the level of zero profitability - at least so that the company does not incur losses," Satkaliev said.
The Minister noted that, according to QazaqGaz calculations, which were previously reviewed at the government level, in order to achieve this goal, prices need to be increased by 30% annually over five years.
"This decision was indeed announced. How will the prices change? Everything will depend on the financial position of the company. Each time such decisions will be made taking into account the prevention of a sharp increase in cost - increases are planned in balanced stages. The government's plans clearly understand that the increase in prices for commercial gas must be carried out gradually," Satkaliev explained.
