Deputy Chairman of the regional Government Anastasia Gapeeva held a working meeting dedicated to the third stage of improvement of the Gnezdovo Museum-Reserve.

Let us recall that "Gnezdovo" is one of the largest archaeological complexes in Russia and Europe, dating back to the period of the formation of the ancient Russian state, and occupies an area of ​​almost 200 hectares. It is also the venue for the international historical reconstruction festival, which takes place annually in early August and attracts thousands of spectators from Smolensk, the region and other regions of the country, as well as neighboring countries.

On the instructions of Governor Vasily Anokhin, large-scale transformations were carried out on the territory of the museum-reserve last year, primarily concerning the renewal of the tourist infrastructure. Work was carried out to illuminate the historical village and the entrance group, the wooden flooring of the ecological trail was extended, the installation of navigation poles and information boards continued, and the lecture hall was renovated for holding master classes.

During the meeting, its participants, including the heads of the regional Ministry of Culture and the Tourism Development Center, discussed the master plan for the development of the Gnezdovo territory for the current year. This plan includes the following activities:

- Development of engineering infrastructure, including lighting from the historical village to the stadium and parking area.

- Installation of barriers.

- Installation of a video surveillance system.

- Repair of the railway crossing.

- Development of recreational areas with the installation of a tent camp, a cash pavilion, a recreation area, a children's playground and play equipment.

- Organization of cafe work and installation of fair tents.

- Construction of observation platforms.

- Installation of benches, urns, bicycle parking, information signs and navigation poles.

As was noted during the meeting, the development of the necessary design documentation is in the final stage. Anastasia Gapeeva set the task of completing the complex of improvement measures by the beginning of August, when the next festival will take place.
