The arsonists of the shopping center (TC) "Passage" in Ukhta ( Komi Republic ) knew perfectly well that people would not be able to escape from the fire, but they were indifferent to this. RIA Novosti has received the details.
“The convicts were aware that the fire would prevent people in the building from evacuating through the main exit and foresaw the death of two or more people (...) and were indifferent to this,” the court documents say.
As a result of the fire in the Passage shopping center on July 11, 2005, 25 people died, and another ten visitors were injured. 22-year-old Ukhta residents Anton Korostelev and Aleksey Pulyalin, who were acquitted of arson by the Komi Supreme Court, were sentenced to life imprisonment during a retrial in June 2009.
