The habit of going to bed after midnight has a negative impact on hormonal levels, emotional state and bowel function, said gastroenterologist Saurabh Sethi. He warned about all the serious consequences of going to bed late in an interview with Surrey Live.
According to the doctor, the first thing that happens when you don't get enough sleep is weight gain, followed by apathy and chronic bad mood. In parallel, lack of sleep causes problems with concentration and thinking, Sethi added.
The specialist noted that lack of sleep will gradually affect all body systems. He specified that most often the process affects the hormonal background, bowel function, and liver. Mental health can also be seriously undermined, the doctor believes.
Sethi stressed that it is best to go to bed at the same time every night, preferably before midnight. Timing is important, he said, because you need seven to nine hours of sleep each night.
Previously, doctor Sarah Marin Burbell recommended eating kiwi peel with yogurt to improve sleep. In addition, according to her, this combination of products helps improve the immune system and fights inflammation.
