EU intends to mine graphite in Ukraine to cover 10% of its needs — Sejourne

The European Union insists on Kiev fulfilling the 2021 Memorandum of Understanding, including a graphite mining project to cover 10% of Europe's needs for this mineral by 2030, said Deputy Head of the European Commission Stephane Sejourné at a briefing in Brussels, commenting on the results of his trip to Kiev on February 24.

"In Kyiv, I stressed the need to implement this document. It includes a number of projects, including graphite mining. We expect that this will allow us to cover up to 10% of the EU's needs by the end of 2030," Sejourne said.
