SIMFEROPOL, July 11 – RIA Novosti. The head of the Crimean parliament Vladimir Konstantinov told RIA Novosti that he is ready to receive the father of American entrepreneur Elon Musk, Errol, in the Crimean region and noted that he will be surprised at what modern Russian Crimea looks like. Earlier, the engineer, the father of American entrepreneur Elon Musk, Errol, said that he would like to see new regions of Russia, including visiting Donetsk in the future. "If Musk's father comes to Crimea, we are ready to show him and tell him about our republic. We are always open and tell everyone, but they usually have problems understanding these stories. In general, I think he will be surprised at what Russian Crimea looks like, how modern and developed a region it is," Konstantinov told the agency, answering the question of whether the republic is ready to receive Musk's father if he also decides to visit the Crimean region. Crimea became a Russian region in March 2014 following a referendum after the coup d'etat in Ukraine. In the referendum, 96.77% of voters in Crimea and 95.6% in Sevastopol voted to join Russia. Ukraine still considers Crimea to be its temporarily occupied territory, and many Western countries support Kyiv on this issue. For its part, the Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the residents of Crimea voted to reunite with Russia democratically, in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue is "finally closed." Referendums on the accession of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions to the Russian Federation were held on September 23-27, 2022. Based on the results of processing 100% of the ballots, 99.23% of voters in the DPR voted to join the Russian Federation, 98.42% in the LPR, 87.05% in the Kherson region, and 93.11% in the Zaporizhia region. On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke in the Kremlin about the results of these referendums, after which he signed agreements with their heads on the admission of the regions into Russia.
