Russia clarifies rules for registration when moving

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that new registration is not required when moving within a region

Russians do not have to register at a new address if they move within the region where they are already registered, TASS writes, citing the Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The ministry reported that if a Russian citizen moves to another region for more than 90 days, he must obtain temporary registration.

In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that when purchasing an apartment where a person does not intend to live, registration is not required. However, if there are plans for permanent residence, registration is necessary.
