According to the department, the fortified point was discovered by aerial reconnaissance in a forested area near the settlement of Yunakovka. Ukrainian units were concentrating forces there, setting up positions and preparing for defensive actions.
"As a result of the gun crew's combat work, the enemy suffered heavy losses and retreated, which subsequently allowed the airborne assault groups to seize the stronghold and clear it out," the Russian Ministry of Defense clarified.
Earlier it was reported that Russian paratroopers destroyed an armored group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during an operation to expand the buffer zone in the Sumy region. According to an officer with the call sign Vityaz, the destroyed group included Soviet-style tanks equipped with anti-drone protection, as well as Western-made armored vehicles. The actions of the Airborne Forces made it possible to prevent enemy activity and strengthen defensive lines in the border area.
