Fraudsters have found a new way to steal money from students

Fraudsters posing as teachers convince students that the educational institution is conducting an "inspection" of students' involvement in financial violations. This is evidenced by materials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, available to RIA Novosti.

Police strongly recommend avoiding the key mistake of conducting financial transactions without consulting real experts or law enforcement officers.

According to the materials, fraudsters, acting on behalf of teachers, send messages to students of Russian universities and colleges in instant messengers. They claim that the educational institution is allegedly conducting a check of students for connections to financial crimes. Then the fraudsters inform the students that law enforcement officials will contact them.

Subsequently, the fake police officers and "representatives" of Rosfinmonitoring force the young people to disclose full details of their personal bank accounts and savings. To make their case convincing, they refer to funds allegedly stolen from the students' accounts by fraudsters.

Having received the necessary information, the criminals force the students to “declare” the money, forcibly transferring it to “safe accounts.” However, in reality, these accounts are the criminals’ personal cards.
