Convicted Ukrainian Armed Forces militants serving their sentences in a special regime colony are on a special register at the correctional facility, an operative of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service serving in the colony told RIA Novosti.

According to him, seven convicted Ukrainian citizens, found guilty of war crimes, are serving their sentences in this institution. They are under special control of both the colony administration and the FSIN leadership, since they were convicted of war crimes and have military training, and are under special supervision, the agency's interlocutor said.

He said that although they were convicted of war crimes, prison staff treated them the same as other prisoners.
