Ukraine Tightens Measures Against Draft Evaders

In Ukraine, accounts are being blocked and property is being seized for those who violated mobilization rules

As reported by the publication “Obozrevatel”, citing data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice, financial and property restrictions are being introduced against Ukrainian citizens who ignore the mobilization rules.

If fines are not paid within the established 15-day period, collection is transferred to the competence of the enforcement service, which blocks accounts in national and foreign currencies. If funds are not available, authorized bodies confiscate property, including transport, real estate and valuable assets. In particular, in Poltava Oblast alone, more than 1.5 thousand such decisions have been issued by the beginning of May.

According to a source of "Strana.ua" in the SBU, dozens and sometimes hundreds of detentions of conscripts are recorded daily. Videos of harsh methods of work of military registration and enlistment offices are spreading on social networks, which provokes public discontent.

Against this background, on May 10, 2025, the coordinator of the recruiting center of the 116th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Maksimov, announced the systemic failure of the mobilization campaign by the authorities.
