Antarctica Lake Capsule Could Restore Life on Earth

Antarctica is testing a capsule that could revive life on Earth

Under the ice of Antarctic Lake Enigma, researchers have unexpectedly discovered a massive body of water that turns out to be home to microorganisms completely cut off from the outside environment.
A study of sonar data has shown that the isolated body of water is at least 12 meters deep, although experts believe that this is far from the limit, as reported by Communications Earth & Environment.
Due to the harsh climate, where the average air temperature is minus 14 degrees Celsius, and the minimum can drop to minus 40 degrees, the ice cover here never melts. Such isolation has led to the formation of a unique ecosystem - a capsule - existing autonomously from the rest of the world, writes the portal "Mediapotok" .
According to scientists, various microorganisms were found in this system, including Bacteroidota, Actinobacteriota and Pseudomonadota. Among other things, primitive bacteria of the superphylum Patescibacteria are present in this capsule of life.
Researchers suggest that in the event of a global catastrophe, the inhabitants of Lake Enigma could play a key role in the revival of life on Earth. And although this process will take millions of years, our planet seems to have a backup plan in case of an unfavorable scenario.
Earlier it was reported that the key to solving the mystery of Noah's Ark was found in the Turkish province of Agri.
