14-year-old unlicensed driver causes terror: I didn't even have a chance to escape

The accident occurred in Tuzla on February 11, 2025. Allegedly, a 14-year-old unlicensed driver lost control of the steering wheel after setting off with his friends. At that moment, the vehicle hit Meral Bilgin Kaydan , who was sitting on a bench in front of her workplace, and crushed the woman.

Health, fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The woman, who was trapped under the car, was rescued from under the car after an effort that lasted approximately 1.5 hours and taken to the hospital. The unlicensed driver, who was detained after the incident, was released. The moment of the accident was recorded on a security camera.

"I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CHANCE TO ESCAPE"

The unfortunate woman, who suffered fractures to her back, bruises to her legs and bruises to various parts of her body due to the accident, described the moments of terror she experienced. Meral Bilgin Kaydan, who said that she had a busy work schedule on the day of the incident and that she sat on a bench to take a break, said, "A few minutes had passed when I heard a loud noise on the bench I was sitting on. Before I could understand what was happening, I found myself under the car. I didn't even have a chance to escape. When I opened my eyes, I felt pressure on me, people were shouting but I don't remember much of it. When the rescue teams arrived, my left side was completely numb. The car was sitting on me, my neck was under the wheel. The crane and the excavator came. It took them 1 and a half hours to get me out of there."

"I HAVE A FRACTURE ON MY BACK AND SWELLING ON MY HEAD"

Kaydan, who stated that he was in great shock due to the accident, said about his health condition, "I have serious bruises on my right leg, I am losing strength. I have a fracture in my back and bruises on my hip. There is swelling on the back of my head due to the blow. Films were taken regarding this, we are waiting for the clear results." The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
