THE LAST HEARING WAS HELD ON APRIL 25, 2024 Halime O., who was beaten to death by her husband Recep O., had withdrawn her complaint at the previous hearing. The defendant's lawyer had requested the release and acquittal of his client.

13 YEARS IN PRISON SENTENCE

The Alanya 1st High Criminal Court ruled that the battering husband, Recep O, should first be sentenced to an aggravated prison sentence, while his wife was sentenced to 13 years in prison because she withdrew her complaint against her husband.

BACKGROUND OF THE EVENT

The incident took place on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at around 22:00 in the Güllerpınarı Neighborhood of Alanya. A man named Recep O. beat his wife H.O. with an iron bar and broken glass after an argument. While mother of two HO was covered in blood, angry husband Recep O. made threats. While 112 Emergency Service teams and the police were called to the scene, the angry husband continued to threaten his wife that he would kill her. The injured woman, who was taken to Alanya Education and Research Hospital, was found to have fractures in her head and arm. Recep O., who was taken into custody by the security teams who arrived at the scene, was arrested by the on-call court and sent to Alanya L Type Closed Prison. It was learned that Recep O., who beat his wife to death, had previously used violence several times.
