Breaking news: Perpetrator of Reyhanlı attack: 'I saw no harm in planting the bomb'

Temir Dükancı, who helped bring the explosives used in the terrorist attack in Reyhanlı district of Hatay in 2013 that killed 53 people to Turkey by sea and provided the vehicles to transport the explosives, was identified by MIT as being in Syria. It was determined that Dükancı was preparing to flee to Lebanon, and it was learned that he was planning to carry out an attack on Turkey's representatives abroad with the members of the organization he would gather there and that he was looking for a fake passport for this purpose.

CAUGHT ON THE SYRIAN-LEBANON BORDER

Dükancı, who was in the orange category of the 'Wanted for Terrorism' list, was caught in an operation carried out by MİT on the Syria-Lebanon border and was brought to Turkey and handed over to the Hatay Provincial Police Department.

'I DID NOT HESITATE TO PLACE THE BOMB'

Dükancı connected to the Ankara 9th High Criminal Court, where the case regarding the terror attack in Reyhanlı is being heard, via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) from Hatay. Dükancı claimed in his statement that he was not in Turkey during the terror attack and that he had nothing to do with the remote detonation of the car bomb. Dükancı said, "My involvement in the Reyhanlı explosion was to place the bomb in the car upon M.G.'s instructions. He told me that the police and the prosecutor were following this incident. When he said that, I saw no harm in placing the bomb."

ARRESTED

Dükancı claimed that he had no contact with Mihraç Ural, and claimed that MG had sent packages to Ural and that he had seen him with him several times. Temir Dükancı was arrested after his defense on charges of "disrupting the unity of the state and the integrity of the country" and "qualified premeditated murder."
