Dervişoğlu visits İmamoğlu and Fatih Altaylı

Dervişoğlu visits İmamoğlu and Fatih Altaylı

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu visited Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and journalist Fatih Altaylı, who are detained in Silivri Prison.

Dervişoğlu was accompanied by İYİ Party Istanbul Deputies Cihan Paçacı and Ersin Beyaz, and İYİ Party NGO Relations Head Alper Akdoğan.

Speaking to members of the press upon leaving the prison, Dervişoğlu said that he visited Fatih Altaylı and Ekrem İmamoğlu, while the members of the delegation visited the other detainees.

Dervişoğlu, stating that Fatih Altaylı and Ekrem İmamoğlu are in good health, said, "Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu expressed some concerns about the process. He stated that the investigation is a political one and that there are attempts to divert it to other areas. We are closely following those developments."

Dervişoğlu, stating that Fatih Altaylı is in high spirits, said, "He knows why he's being detained. He's also feeling some unease about the fact that his indictment hasn't been issued yet, based on a two-and-a-half-minute audio recording or video. But I saw him very well, I saw him in complete peace. As I said, he knows exactly why he's here and what he needs to fight. I also want to send my regards to his loved ones."

"I BELIEVE THAT THESE DAYS WILL PASS"

Dervişoğlu continued:

I believe these days will pass. I do not believe that this period, marked by unjust arrests, irregular investigations, unlawful prosecutions, and external interference in the judiciary, will bring any benefit to Türkiye. First and foremost, I want to emphasize the need to eliminate these negative developments and eliminate injustices and unlawfulness.
