Egg exports to be cut by 50 cents per kilogram

"Presidential Decree on Amendments to the Decision on the Support and Price Stabilization Fund" was published in the Official Gazette.
Accordingly, a deduction of 50 cents in Turkish lira will be made per kilogram on chicken eggs within the scope of DFIF.
The decision will come into effect from tomorrow.
"Bird flu causes serious losses in egg production"On the other hand, the Ministry of Trade also made a written statement regarding the decision in question.
The statement stated that the Ministry's priority is to protect the balance of domestic production and consumption by taking into account new trends emerging in the world in coordination with the relevant official and sectoral organizations, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry , to meet domestic consumption at reasonable prices for citizens, to eliminate threats to food supply security and to ensure sustainable food supply and consumption in Turkey.
The statement, which stated that eggs, which are a more affordable source of protein compared to meat and dairy products, are among the basic food sources in Turkey as well as all over the world, made the following assessment:
"Egg supply varies depending on various economic, environmental and biological factors, and the bird flu (avian influenza) outbreak in particular causes serious losses in egg production. The decrease in production and the increase in demand for eggs originating from our country due to the regional bird flu outbreak that started to be seen in our country, especially in the last quarter of 2024, have affected domestic prices upwards."
"All policy and control tools will be used with determination"In the statement, it was stated that the premium deductions for the fees to be taken from the weight or value of some products during the export of these products were determined within the scope of DFIF.
In this context, the statement drew attention to the fact that extreme price fluctuations in international markets were reflected in domestic prices and negatively affected consumer welfare, and the following statements were used:
"Considering the evaluations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry regarding table egg exports, the fact that foreign demand will continue to increase and the approaching month of Ramadan , in order to prevent supply-side problems in terms of consumer welfare and prices in the domestic market, the 'Presidential Decree No. 9526 on Amendments to the Decision on the Support and Price Stability Fund', which regulates the application of a 50 cent deduction per kilogram within the scope of DFIF in table egg exports, was published in the Official Gazette No. 32824 dated February 25, 2025 and entered into force."
The statement emphasized that in the coming period, strong cooperation will be ensured and all policy and control tools within their areas of duty and authority will be resolutely used to protect food supply and safety, facilitate public access to food at reasonable prices, and prevent speculation in food markets.
