Excessive speed and alcohol caused an accident: 1 injured

Three people were injured in a traffic accident that occurred in Istanbul's Kartal district this morning. The accident occurred at around 05:28 on Turgut Özal Boulevard in the Orhantepe Neighborhood.

According to the information received, the car with the registration number 61 SS 134, driven by Kerimcan D., went out of control while driving at excessive speed on the coastal road and crashed into the back of the car with the registration number 34 KG 4544, which was travelling in the same direction. It was alleged that the driver was drunk.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles were damaged, and Kerimcan D., his passenger and the driver of the other vehicle were injured. Upon notification, health, fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Fire crews rescued the injured people trapped in the vehicle and handed them over to medical teams.

The injured were taken to hospital by ambulance after receiving first aid at the scene. It was reported that one of the injured was in serious condition.

Traffic was temporarily stopped

Due to the accident, the Kartal coastal road was closed to traffic in the direction of Pendik for a while. Municipality teams carried out sandblasting work in the area against the risk of slipping. After the vehicles involved in the accident were towed away, traffic flow returned to normal.
