In a written statement, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change stated that it has provided a solution to the rental/housing problem by implementing steps such as social housing for low-income people through TOKİ, new projects for middle-income people through Emlak Konut, and land establishment in cooperation with the General Directorate of National Real Estate. It was announced that the ministry has built 1 million 481 thousand social housing units to date under the coordination of TOKİ; and that the construction of 312 thousand social housing units in 81 provinces is ongoing. In the statement of the ministry, it was announced that the works, which slowed down for a while due to the pandemic and the disaster of the century, have accelerated again as of the beginning of this year.
'7,825 SOCIAL HOUSES WERE DELIVERED IN YENİPEÇENEK'
"The majority of the project that will make low-income citizens homeowners in Saraycık/Yenipeçenek, a district of Sincan in Ankara , has been completed," the ministry statement said, adding, "Construction has been completed in 11 of the 18 stages, and deliveries are ongoing. With the completion of 5 more stages this year, a total of 12,909 houses, 143 business centers, 2 schools, 6 mosques, and 3 masjids will have been built in the region. 7,825 social housing units have been delivered to date."
'THEY TALK, THE AK PARTY DOES'
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum shared images of citizens who became homeowners through the social housing project on his social media account. Minister Kurum said, "For 23 years, they talk, the AK Party does."
'I PAY INSTALLMENTS LIKE PAYING MONEY FOR COOKIES'
The ministry's statement also included those who own a house. Perihan Kepez, the beneficiary who moved into her new house, stated that she became a house owner as if she were paying rent through the social housing campaign, and said, "For myself, I would not have had the opportunity to even get the letter 'e' of the house. When I entered my house, I was so surprised that I said to my 4-year-old granddaughter 'Look, Ayşe Betül is my key'. Because I have never had a house in my life. In this case, I am paying installments as if I were paying for a snack. If the state had not provided us with this opportunity, we would never have been where we are. Let no one be ungrateful, I constantly tell Tayyip Erdoğan that you are going to heaven. May Allah be pleased with you. Because he provided us with this opportunity."
The retired beneficiary Rasim Çoklü, who was included in the ministry's statement, said, "I moved to my new house 10 months ago, thanks to the suitable installment opportunity, I became a homeowner for the first time at the age of 60. The world became mine. I am 60 years old, I have never experienced such happiness. Because I have never owned a house. I lived in a rented house for years. I felt like I was reborn, like I came back to the world. Right now, I became a homeowner by paying installments like I am paying 7-8 thousand TL in dues."
Another beneficiary, accountant Yakup Özcan, explained that he became a homeowner by benefiting from the project offered by TOKİ . Özcan said, "We moved in August 2023. Now our payments continue. The rents here are 18-20 thousand TL. We pay 2 thousand 500 TL. In other words, a father would not give this to his son. There is a fatherly characteristic here, the warm hand of the state. This must be what is called social policies. What everyone will focus on for low-income people; first a roof over their head, secondly payment terms. I will pay 600 thousand TL in installments in 20 years, This is a great thing. We saw the quality of the buildings TOKİ built during earthquakes. They all survived. Moreover, the materials used are also of high quality. This is an ideal place for low-income people."
