NestNeo, an AI-powered newborn guide, is now available

Developed under the leadership of Ege University Faculty of Medicine faculty member Prof. Dr. Özge Altun, the artificial intelligence-supported application called NestNeo met with parents at the beginning of 2025. Based on scientific accuracy in newborn and baby care, the application aims to provide individualized and reliable answers to many questions families encounter. The application not only provides information; it also aims to be a companion for parents with its compassionate language and expert academic infrastructure.
Scientific, Compassionate and Individualized SupportThe most striking feature of NestNeo is its ability to provide personalized answers to each baby with an artificial intelligence-based system. According to Prof. Dr. Özge Altun, the application offers suggestions based on the individual characteristics of babies. “For example, when asked, ‘What should my baby eat?’, not only general information is provided; but also suggestions that are specific to the user’s baby and in line with scientific guidelines are provided,” said Altun, emphasizing that the application is based on evidence-based content prepared by academics. NestNeo approaches information not only as a digital tool, but also as an understanding guide. According to Altun, this system uses a warm and guiding language that can empathize with mothers.
Safe Haven Against Information PollutionThe reason for the emergence of NestNeo is based on the increasing information pollution in the digital world. Prof. Dr. Altun stated that especially first-time parents can obtain inaccurate information from sources such as the internet and social media, and said, “One of the most valuable responsibilities in human life is to raise a good child. However, families can feel inadequate during this process. NestNeo aims to alleviate these concerns with a scientific basis and provide safe consultancy.” The application aims to prevent parents from turning to random digital sources and direct them to accurate and reliable information.
Can's Life Became Hope for Thousands of BabiesThe foundations of NestNeo were laid 18 years ago, inspired by the struggle for life of a prematurely born baby. Can, the son of Prof. Dr. Tuğkan Tuğlular, a faculty member at the Istanbul Institute of Technology, was born at 24 weeks. Can's story, which won his battle for life during a long and difficult intensive care period under Prof. Dr. Altun's treatment, formed the emotional basis of this project. Altun stated that he firsthand observed the anxiety and helplessness experienced by parents during this process, and stated that NestNeo is not only an application; it is also a life guide.
Prof. Dr. Özge Altun and Prof. Dr. Tuğkan Tuğlular’s paths crossed with this shared life experience and a strong technical team came together afterwards. According to Altun, the application was developed entirely with its own resources with the contribution of talented software developers and engineers who were raised in Türkiye but now live in the Netherlands. Emphasizing that NestNeo will be a hope not only for Can but also for thousands of babies, Altun said, “This was Can’s chance but now it has turned into an application that will give life to thousands of lives.”
