The journey to the festival was bloody: People were crushed badly

Five people have died as a result of an elephant attack in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, authorities announced that a group that was on their way to the "Maha Shivaratri" festival held in the state was attacked by a herd of elephants in the forest.

Authorities said that five people who were crushed under the elephants died at the scene, and those injured were taken to hospital.

Authorities stated that two of the injured remain in serious condition.
