Alarm bells are ringing loudly in the industry.

Following the rise of the issue of declining employment in industry, Erdal Bahçıvan, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry ( ISO ), made a significant assessment. Highlighting the low figures for the ISO Turkey Manufacturing PMI and Sectoral PMI, Bahçıvan said, " Alarm bells are ringing very loudly for our industry."
10 sectors contracted
The Istanbul Chamber of Industry's Turkey Manufacturing PMI data fell for the third consecutive month in July, reaching 45.9. The index indicated the sector experienced its most significant slowdown since October 2024. Bahçıvan said, “In the sectoral PMI data, we see that all 10 sectors monitored contracted in July, following June, and the situation was particularly severe in traditional labor-intensive sectors… Yes, the situation is very serious. No one can remain indifferent to this situation. The voices of our industrialists must be heard, and urgent action must be taken to find solutions.” Erdal Bahçıvan also stated that the ISO is working on a model to address this situation.
