He received a loan of 265 million from the bank he managed

Veysi Kaynak, an AKP member who was Deputy Prime Minister in Binali Yıldırım's cabinet, currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Ziraat Bank. Kaynak, who also owns a company called Kuvva Gıda, received a 265 million lira loan from Ziraat Bank, where he is a director, and an 840 million lira incentive from the government for his own company.

Kaynak's wife, Şule Kaynak, also serves on the company's board. It turns out that Kaynak's partner at Kuvva Gıda is Mehmet Sait Kanbur, the owner of MADO ice cream and the man held responsible for the demolition of the Manolya Site, which killed 35 people in the Kahramanmaraş earthquake.

Kanbur, who is on trial facing 22.5 years in prison for "causing death by conscious negligence by using inadequate construction materials," offered ice cream to President Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Aliyev, who visited Kahramanmaraş last month.

NOT TO FARMERS BUT TO AKP MEMBERS

Yeni Yol Group Deputy Chairman Selçuk Özdağ and CHP Karabük Deputy Cevdet Akay brought the loan used by Kaynak and his partner to the attention of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Özdağ stated, "Ziraat Bank, which should be supporting farmers, is working for AKP politicians. Veysi Kaynak, the Bank's Deputy Chairman, has loaned millions of lira to his own company." He continued:

He currently has 161 million lira in debt and has received 840 million lira in government incentives. He holds a senior position at a public bank, and he's growing his company by receiving support from that bank. Ziraat Bank's job isn't to provide opportunities for politicians, but to help Turkish farmers and contribute to agriculture. But public banks are lending money to former ministers, media moguls, and organized crime leaders.

Use of credit contrary to the Banking Law

CHP Karabük Deputy Cevdet Akay also stated, “Senior executives at public banks are providing loans to companies they own, in violation of the Banking Law. They are providing low-interest loans to their own board members instead of farmers and tradespeople. Veysi Kaynak also provided loans to himself. His partner, Mehmet Sait Kanbur, is responsible for the destruction of the Manolya Site in Kahramanmaraş, where 35 people lost their lives. A detailed investigation into who received the loans must be conducted, and accountability for these flawed practices must be sought.”
