A fire broke out on the 4th floor of a 26-storey building in a housing estate in the Alacaatlı Neighbourhood of Ankara's Çankaya district at around 22:00 on July 13 due to the material used in the electrical installation in the shaft section of the building not being up to standard.
The flames quickly spread to other floors. While the fire was brought under control in four hours, three-and-a-half-month-old Aras Şahin, Hüsniye Çelik Şahin, and 63-year-old security guard Muharrem Çetinkaya lost their lives.
