A carpet-loaded truck hit a passenger bus that braked suddenly on the Northern Marmara Highway

The accident occurred at around 10.30 am on the Northern Marmara Highway in Eyüpsultan. The driver of the bus travelling from Diyarbakır to Istanbul braked suddenly after missing the exit he was supposed to take. At that moment, a truck carrying carpets from Gaziantep to Romania hit the bus from behind.

Due to the impact, the passenger bus belonging to the Star Diyarbakır bus company passed over the barriers and went onto the dirt road. The truck also passed over the barriers and went in the opposite direction.

The passengers on the bus got off in panic. The carpets inside the truck were scattered on the road. Upon notification, gendarmerie, health and fire teams were dispatched to the scene. Police teams took security measures. While some lanes of the road were closed in the Edirne and Ankara directions due to the accident, another truck was loaded with the carpets that were scattered on the road. After the carpets were loaded, the road was reopened to traffic. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
