Two drivers sentenced to 10 years in prison in Alanya earthquake accident where earthquake victims died!

BACKGROUND OF THE EVENT

The accident occurred on March 3, 2023, at the Mehmet Çakır Street Junction in the Mahmutlar Neighborhood of Alanya District. The light commercial vehicle driven by Onur TE (30), coming from the Gazipaşa direction, collided with the car driven by Emin Zan, who was trying to turn at the junction. Due to the force of the collision, İnci Güler and Başak Güler, who were in the car, were thrown onto the road, and Ali Can Güler, Ahmet Çınar Zan, Emin Zan, Fulya Zan and Melis Bade Zan, who were in the car, were injured. The surrounding citizens reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, an ambulance and gendarmerie were dispatched to the scene. While the healthcare teams who arrived at the scene determined that İnci Güler had lost her life at the scene, the injured Başak Güler, Ahmet Çınar Zan, Emin Zan, Fulya Zan, Melis Bade Zan, Ali Can Güler and Melis Bade Zan were taken to the hospital. Despite all efforts of doctors in the hospital, Başak Güler and Ali Can Güler could not be saved. Following the accident, the light commercial vehicle driver Onur TE was detained by the gendarmerie and then arrested by the on-call court to which he was referred.
