150,657 houses were sold across Türkiye in September

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced the September Housing Sales Statistics. Accordingly, housing sales across Turkey increased by 6.9 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 150,657. The cities with the highest number of housing sales were Istanbul with 24,119, Ankara with 13,417, and Izmir with 8,544, while the cities with the fewest were Ardahan with 70, Bayburt with 117, and Tunceli with 142.

Mortgaged home sales between January and September increased by 76.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 162,493.
In September, 4,978 mortgaged houses were sold as first-hand properties, while in the January-September period, 38,571 were sold.
As a result of other types of sales, 129,391 homes changed hands.Other home sales across Turkey increased by 3.4 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 129,391. Other home sales accounted for 85.9 percent of total home sales. Other home sales between January and September increased by 13.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 966,234.
The number of new home sales across Turkey increased by 5.0 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 47,117. New home sales accounted for 31.3 percent of total home sales. In the January-September period, new home sales increased by 13.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 342,641.
103,540 houses changed hands in second-hand housing salesThe number of second-hand home sales across Turkey increased by 7.8 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 103,540. Second-hand home sales accounted for 68.7 percent of total home sales. Second-hand home sales increased by 21.6 percent year-over-year, reaching 786,086 in the January-September period.
1,867 houses were sold to foreigners in SeptemberHome sales to foreigners decreased by 7.7 percent in September compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1,867. Home sales to foreigners accounted for 1.2 percent of total home sales in September. The cities with the highest number of home sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 744, Antalya with 557, and Mersin with 124.
House sales to foreigners decreased by 12.6 percent in the January-September period compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 14,944.
