Anti-Israel protests in Germany

Left Party Co-Chairman Aken evaluated the elections held yesterday at the Federal Press Center.
"We are in favor of the German government stopping arms shipments to Israel," Aken said in a statement here.
Aken, a politician from the left-wing party, stated that one human rights crime should never be a justification for another human rights crime, and said, "This is why we say that the war that the Israeli army is currently waging in Gaza always violates international law. Human rights violations are taking place there."
Aken noted that they are in favor of recognizing the state of Palestine, as do many other EU countries.
Aken also touched on the issue of sending a possible peacekeeping force to Ukraine, saying, "By the way, I have a different view than (Christian Unity party's candidate for prime minister) Friedrich Merz and (Prime Minister) Olaf Scholz. I think we need to talk about this issue today."
Aken said that both sides had accepted a peace agreement and that it was right for a neutral force to be sent by the United Nations, adding, "In my opinion, the Chinese blue helmets should also be involved. This would be a material security guarantee for Ukraine . Because if there are Chinese blue helmets on the border, Russia will not attack them. This is material security, not just a piece of paper. This is very important to me."
Finally, Aken stated that they were happy with the 8 percent of the votes their party received and said, "The Left Party is back."
