The DEM Party's İmralı delegation will reportedly meet with Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç today. The party announced in a written statement that the meeting will take place at the Ministry at 11:00 a.m. The delegation also released a written statement regarding reports of the talks held with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan at İmralı Prison.
The statement read, "We respectfully consider all views, whether for or against the process, as a requirement of a democratic society. However, we would like to inform the public that we consider attitudes aimed at undermining trust based on false and distorted documents and information to be provocative attempts."
Rawest Research Director Roj Girasun recounted his meeting with former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, held in Edirne Prison the day before the PKK's disarmament ceremony, on Halk TV. According to Girasun, Demirtaş stated that there were no negotiations regarding the PKK's disarmament process, but rather a voluntary one. Girasun quoted Demirtaş as saying, "He disagrees with concerns that this process will open the door to authoritarianism and that he will not consent to an authoritarian proposal. He emphasizes that a democratization proposal can be discussed politically, and that this should be understood within the context of the nature of politics."
