According to the information received, a fire broke out in the Sultangazi City Forest at around 12.40 for an unknown reason. Upon notification, many fire crews were dispatched to the scene. The crews, who arrived at the scene in a short time, started working to extinguish the flames, while security measures were taken in the area. The crews warned citizens to get out of the forest with announcements they made. Citizens were evacuated from the forest with the help of the crews. Mounted units affiliated with the Rapid Response Force Branch Directorate also assisted in the evacuation of citizens. The fire was brought under control after the intensive work of the fire crews.

Then, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül made a statement to the press members and said, "There is a fire in Sultangazi City Forest, the cause of which is not yet known, but it started due to human error, human fault. Of course, the fire news came at around 12:45. Our teams intervened in the fire within 12 minutes. As of now, the fire affected an area of ​​approximately 10 acres. The fire is partially under control. The burning continues."

"The cause is not yet clear"

Governor Davut Gül, who said that the cause of the fire will be determined after the work to be done, said, "Our fire department and public institutions and organizations are working here to extinguish the fire under the coordination of our Regional Forestry Directorate. The cause is not yet known, in general, all fires start in some way or another, either due to picnics or other reasons. When the cause is known in the later processes, it will be shared with you. They control all fires in Türkiye from a single source. Helicopters and planes are directed when needed. We said it in general, they made the preparations. The necessary intervention will be made when needed."

"The fire has been brought under control, cooling work is underway"

Stating that the work was successful, Governor Gül said, "We are not going to the fire area so as not to negatively affect the work. But we saw the fire with a drone. Thankfully, the fire was taken under control with the information provided by our friends. Cooling work will continue in the following process." Two firefighting planes provided support in the cooling work of the fire.
