Colombian President Petro quoted a post on his account on the social media platform X, where a user posted a photo of Shem-Tov kissing the forehead of members of the Qassam Brigades before his release.

Petro said, "This is peace. Humanity is love and solidarity in the worst of times. This is how resistance is shown/how resistance is made and this is how life is."

Israeli prisoner Omer Shem-Tov kissed the heads of Qassam Brigade members on the platform before his release on February 22.

The footage of the moment made headlines across the Arab world but was ignored by the Israeli media.
