President slams Leyen: 'It's time to go'

Orban made a statement on his social media platform X account regarding the vote to be held tomorrow in the European Parliament (EP) for von der Leyen due to the vote of no confidence against her.

Orban, stating that tomorrow will be a turbulent day in the European Parliament, said, "The vote was planned due to the corruption scandals that have accumulated around the President, but we all know that corruption is just the tip of the iceberg."

Emphasizing that this is related to the future of Europe, Orban made the following statements about the "balance sheet" of the Commission led by von der Leyen:

"Europe's competitiveness is in ruins, energy prices in Europe are through the roof, illegal immigration is out of control, gender ideology is compulsory, the war in Ukraine is carnage, European couples are on the brink, mindless green ideology is at its peak."

Emphasizing that leadership requires responsibility, Orban commented, "Tomorrow, the moment of decision is coming. On one side, Brussels' imperial elites, on the other, patriots and common sense. There is no escape; a choice must be made."

The interpellation against von der Leyen

The EU Commission, which has procured large quantities of vaccines to combat the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020, made the largest of these with the American company Pfizer.

The exact value of the multi-billion euro agreements was not officially disclosed on the grounds that it was a "trade secret."

Phone calls between EU Commission President von der Leyen and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla during vaccine procurement talks have led to allegations of corruption against von der Leyen.

Romanian MEP Gheorghe Piperea had submitted a motion of no confidence against Von der Leyen, citing the scandal known as "Pfizergate".

The European Parliament will vote on a vote of no confidence in von der Leyen tomorrow.
