The hot weather in Taksim was stifling

Due to the hot weather, AKOM warned Istanbul residents not to go outside between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. With temperatures reaching 31 degrees Celsius in Taksim Square, those suffering from the heat sought to cool off in parks and gardens under the shade of trees. Crowds gathered in Gezi Park. Some wore hats, while others sought protection from the sun with umbrellas as they strolled down İstiklal Avenue.
'WE PROTECT OURSELVES FROM THE SUN BY USING UMBRELLAS'Tour guide Nesrin Çakmak said, "I didn't see any warnings about the temperature, but I always have my umbrella with me. The umbrella is a symbol of tour guides. Our guests are both traveling and protecting us from the sun with it. As you can imagine, it's summer and hot. That's how we protect ourselves. We're exploring Istanbul with our guests, and we're exploring."
Hatice Özçelik, who came to the park in Taksim after feeling overwhelmed by the heat, said, "I heard on TV that it was going to be very hot today. I took precautions and put on my hat. I have to go outside. I can't stay home; it's blowing outside. That's why I came to the park. But even in the shade, it's so hot it's impossible to sit. I'm constantly walking around. It's unbearable."
'IT'S A GOOD THING I WAS WEARING A HAT, IT WAS REALLY HOT'Baran Avcı also stated that he wore a hat to protect himself from the hot weather, saying, "I like wearing a hat, so I put it on, but it's really hot. I sat in the shade. I can't get out in the sun, so I rested under a tree. I didn't see any warning that it would be this hot, but I'm glad I wore a hat."
