8-second video with just one photo: surprising innovation from Google!

Google has launched a new AI-powered feature that transforms images into short 8-second videos.
Users subscribed to the Gemini Ultra and Pro plans will now be able to produce videos with audio (720p – 16:9 aspect ratio) in MP4 format using just a photo and a short description.
This feature will be available immediately on the web version of Gemini and will be integrated into the mobile app within a week. The feature is seen as a significant step forward for Google, strengthening its position against rivals like OpenAI and Runway AI. Google developed this feature based on its previously introduced Veo 3 model.
The short video creation tool is currently quite successful at animating plants and animals. However, some limitations have been found when transferring more complex movements like breakdancing.
According to Bloomberg's tests, the system can sometimes modify facial features or ethnic appearances. Google states that this feature has been particularly successful with object and nature images and that development is ongoing.
The company also emphasizes that the creation of videos depicting violence or public figures will not be permitted.
