Access to news about the 'demolition decision for buildings in the Bosphorus' has been blocked.

The court has blocked access to news reports about the demolition orders issued for the illegally constructed sections of prominent hotels and restaurants along the Bosphorus . The reasons cited for the blockage were national security and the preservation of public order. It remains unclear how the decision to demolish only the illegally constructed sections of the Bosphorus has any bearing on national security.
In accordance with the critical decisions of the Istanbul Cultural Heritage Preservation District Board of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Bosphorus Reconstruction Teams have decided to demolish the illegal extensions of businesses along the Bosphorus. In line with this decision, the teams have begun demolition. Access to the news of the planned demolition of the illegal extensions was blocked by the Istanbul 4th SCH's decision numbered 2025/7663, dated July 11, 2025.
The reason could not be understoodThe Istanbul 4th Criminal Court of Peace cited " protecting national security and public order " as the reason for blocking access to the news in question. However, reporting on the demolition of illegally constructed extensions adjacent to the Bosphorus has raised questions about the potential harm to national security.
Will demolition orders be lifted? The access ban, citing national security reasons, on a report about the demolition decision, which only targeted illegal sections of buildings along the Bosphorus, caught the attention of journalist Bahadır Özgür. Responding to the news on social media, Özgür said, "They're obviously going to lift the demolition decision one way or another."
Information was requested within the scope of the IMM investigationA previous report in Nefes newspaper stated that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office , which is conducting a corruption investigation into individuals including Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been suspended from his post as Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, sent a note to the Bosphorus Zoning Directorate, affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, yesterday requesting detailed information and documents regarding the permits and licenses for 11 properties and businesses located on the Bosphorus . The report stated that the Prosecutor's Office would investigate any irregularities or violations of zoning regulations in the licensing process or zoning qualifications, and requested that the property owners, those who issued or approved the permits, or those responsible for the licensing process be notified.
