Russian Holiday Prices to Türkiye Increased by 218 Percent in Four Years

Data published by the Russian Analytical Credit Rating Agency (AKRA) revealed that the price of holidays to Türkiye has increased by 218% in the last four years. Between 2021 and 2025, Turkey became the most expensive international holiday destination for Russian citizens.
Türkiye Became the Holiday Country with the Highest Price Hikes
According to a report by TürkRus, citing RBC, the average trip to Türkiye in August 2025 cost 88,000 rubles. Approximately 28% of this amount was transportation costs. This made Turkey both the most preferred destination for Russian tourists and the one with the highest price increases.
Five Main Reasons for Price Increases
According to AKRA's analysis, there are five main reasons for the sharp increase in holiday prices:
- Increase in flight ticket costs,
- The general price level in Türkiye has increased,
- Fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate,
- The decrease in affordable holiday packages,
- Increase in commission rates of tourism agencies.
Russian Tourists Shorten Their Holidays
The study indicated that demand for Türkiye remains high, but due to rising costs, Russian tourists are turning to shorter and lower-budget holiday packages.
Despite this, Türkiye remained the top destination for Russian citizens traveling abroad as of the end of 2024. Türkiye was followed by Abkhazia, while European countries and the United States saw a significant decline in their share.
Domestic Holiday Prices Are Also Rising in Russia
AKRA data also shows that holiday prices within Russia are on the rise. Domestic tourism costs rose by 14 percent in 2024, and the average price of a 7-10-night tour for two to Sochi in the summer of 2025 reached 89,000 rubles.
According to experts, this trend is seen as an inevitable result of both increasing domestic demand and the cost explosion in foreign currency-based destinations.
