TÜROB President Müberra Eresin supported Minister Ersoy

President of the Hoteliers Association of Turkey ( TUROB ), Müberra Eresin , addressed the members at the lunch held at The Marmara Hotel and evaluated the hot agenda of the sector.

Müberra Eresin, who began her speech by offering her condolences for those who lost their lives in the fire disaster in Kartalkaya , said, “The deep and indescribable sadness of the loss of our children, citizens and our country’s leading economist, including my very valuable teacher and TÜROB Certified Public Accountant Dr. Nedim Türkmen, his beloved wife Ayşe Neva , and their children Ala Dora and Yüce Ata, will undoubtedly never be erased from our hearts.”

“I am a close witness to Mehmet Nuri Ersoy’s sensitivity”

Eresin, who stated that he could not understand the attempts to create a perception that accommodation centers were inadequate in terms of fire precautions after the Kartalkaya disaster, said, “This process and the atmosphere that was tried to be created are very saddening for our sector. As a business owner and NGO president who has closely witnessed the sensitivity of our Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy regarding fire precautions in facilities since the date he took office, I believe that this sensitivity will be a milestone for the public and private sectors after the terrible fire.”

Eresin continued his speech by saying:

We are pleased to see that the inspections of public places have increased by the "Fire Precautions Inspection Commission" established by the Governorships in the provinces. During the inspections, the precautions of the businesses within the framework of the relevant legislation are reviewed one by one and any deficiencies are corrected.

“It is wrong to call closed underground places ‘hotels’”

While we are on the subject, I would like to underline one more issue. In accordance with the relevant legislation, accommodation establishments take all kinds of precautions regarding science and health rules, especially fire, however; unfortunately, the definition of places that operate unregistered, especially without obtaining any documents from authorized institutions, and that are called “under the counter” as “hotels”, and the fact that their activities are terminated and they are closed after being detected by authorized institutions and that the media reports that “the hotel is closed” is an injustice to our establishments that carry out their business with full responsibility and within the legal framework.

I hope that knowing this issue will prevent any further misconceptions about our sector.”
