A12 closed LIVE: Traffic builds near Colchester with huge delays after lorry overturns

There is severe traffic within the city centre of Colchester as southbound A12 traffic tries to divert through the city around the closure.

There is not an official diversion route in place yet. It is not yet known when the A12 will reopen.

There is congestion to Langham, also back onto the A120 at Ardleigh. There are queues into town on the A134 past the hospital, and onlookers northbound from J25 (Marks Tey). There are severe delays with traffic building since 11.40am.

The road is shut from J28 A1341 (Colchester United Football Ground) to J27 A133 / Spring Lane (Avenue Of Remembrance Roundabout).

There has been a crash on the A12 Colchester Bypass Southbound. A lorry has overturned and completely blocked the carriageway.
