Man charged in alledged assault London police say was hate-motivated

An alleged assault police say was hate-motivated has resulted in charges against a 20-year-old man.

Police say that on June 6 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a man was approached by a vehicle while walking in the 1200-block of Fanshawe Park Road West.

Police say a man inside the vehicle began yelling "racially motivated comments at the victim."

When the victim tried to engage in conversation with the man now charged, police say the man exited the vehicle and assaulted the victim, who suffered minor injuries.

The vehicle left the area, and police were given a vehicle description.

As a result, a 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released and is due in court next month.
