Meghan Markle's blunt three-word response after key royal appearance

Meghan Markle previously gave a blunt three-word response when she spoke about her engagement interview with Prince Harry. In the couple's Netflix docuseries in 2020, the 43-year-old didn't hold back when criticising the interview they carried after revealing their engagement to the world.

The engagement interview, which took place in November 2017, was believed to have taken place in Nottingham Cottage on the Kensington Palace estate with BBC interviewer Mishal Husain. Speaking on their docuseries, Meghan described the engagement announcement bluntly in three words as an "orchestrated reality show".

Going on to discuss how it all felt "rehearsed", Meghan added: "It was rehearsed. We did the thing outside with the press, then we went right inside, took the coat off and sat down and did the interview.

“It was all in the same moment. My point is we weren't allowed to tell our story because they didn't allow it."

Harry, who also appeared in the clip of Meghan talking about their engagement interview, then made a joke about how the couple had never been allowed to tell their story - to which Meghan laughed and said “that’s true”.

Mishal later spoke to Saga Magazine about Meghan's comments, telling the publication: "What I remember about that day was two people who were excited about their engagement and in love. They seemed to have thought through what their new lives would be like and what marriage would mean for her life in particular.

"There was nothing that pointed to what would happen. It was two people who were full of joy in each other and life."

Both Harry and Meghan previously revealed that their engagement took place at their home Nottingham Cottage.

Describing the moment as "romantic", Meghan shared that she kept butting in during the proposal to try and say yes before he had even finished asking the big question.

The couple - now parents to Prince Archie, six, and three-year-old Princess Lilibet - celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary earlier this month.
