Beyoncé Is Now Two Awards Away From EGOT Status

Beyoncé Is Now Two Awards Away From EGOT Status
65th grammy awards show

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Beyoncé just won her first Emmy for Beyoncé Bowl.
  • She was previously snubbed for Homecoming and Lemonade.
  • The pop star is now halfway to EGOT status.

Beyoncé just hit a new career milestone, but what else is new? The multi-hyphenate pop star recently won her first Emmy.

Ahead of the ceremony, which doesn’t take place until September 14, she was announced as the winner for Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming for her Netflix NFL halftime special, Beyoncé Bowl. She shares the award with Shiona Turini, Erica Rice, Molly Peters, Chelsea Staebell, and Timothy White.

Bey, tragically, did not win any of her previous Emmy nominations for Homecoming or Lemonade, so this feels like a rightful correction. And she’s still up for more Beyoncé Bowl awards at next month’s ceremony.

This win also puts her in new territory: She’s now two awards away from reaching EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) status. Here’s a full breakdown of all her major wins and nominations so far, and what she still has left to snag.
