THE RUNDOWN
- Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi welcomed their first child this summer.
- Brown has reportedly always wanted to be a young mother.
- She and Bongiovi have plans for a big family.
Millie Bobby Brown and husband Jake Bongiovi announced they had welcomed their first child via adoption this week. While fans might be surprised that the 21-year-old Stranger Things star was so quick to grow her family following her marriage in May 2024, a source tells People that has always been Brown’s plan.
“She’s so young, but so focused. And she has the biggest heart,” said the insider. “There’s no doubt that she’s a great mom. Pretty much everything she sets her mind to, she crushes.”
They continued, “And they have really worked on creating this special family life in Georgia. She loves her farm—it’s going to be such a special place for the baby to grow up. Even before they were married, she often spoke about her wish to be a young mom. And Jake was always on the same page. They’re in it together.”
The couple announced their happy news on August 21 on Instagram, sharing that their first baby is a girl.
“This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” they wrote. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3.”
On an episode of the Smartless podcast in March, Brown talked about motherhood and wanting to start a family.
“My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And you know, it’s been my thing since before I met Jake,” Brown said. “Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”
She added, “And my nan, my grandmother is, she was a huge part of my life. And so, yeah, I mean, Jake knows how important it is to me and, of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it’s so important to start a family for me personally. It’s a huge thing. Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing.”
Both Brown and Bongiovi come from big families and Brown seems to want the same.
“I’m one of four. He’s one of four,” Brown shared. “So, it is definitely in our future, but, for me, I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting.”
