Antiques Roadshow guest floored over value of item he's been wearing for years

A guest on Antiques Roadshow was left speechless when the item they’d worn every day for decades was valued at a jaw-dropping price.
The popular show, where everyday people bring in their family heirlooms and collectibles to be examined by experts, featured Peter Planes evaluating a Rolex X Tiffany watch. The watch, a gift from the guest’s late uncle in 1975, was purchased at Tiffany's in New York and has been a cherished possession ever since.
The man revealed that he’d worn the watch almost every day for years, even joking that he had "never taken it off." A clear tan line on his arm shaped like the watch proved just how constant it had been in his life. Although he had taken the watch to Rolex for servicing, he opted for a different repair shop when Rolex suggested replacing the face of the watch.
Expert Peter Planes explained that keeping the original features of the watch actually boosted its value. After appraising it, he gave the eye-popping value of $50,000 (£39,500).
The expert said: "Collectors like things totally original. They want the original dial, even with the oxidation on it, even the faded bezel is very collectible. He then added: "Today, in the retail market, your watch is worth $50,000 (£39,500)." To which the clearly shocked man responded: "Oh, good grief. That's, uh... that is absolutely stunning to me.
"I think the highest I ever heard was $30,000 (£23,700), which I thought was crazy and outrageous, but the fact that it's worth $50,000 is startling to me."
The guest also shared a heartfelt story about the special gift from his late uncle. “He purchased it at Tiffany’s New York … right before I was going to go to college, he noticed I wasn’t wearing a watch on my wrist, so he took it off his wrist and gave it to me."
Just last week another guest was left stunned at the value of her pot.
During the show, expert Will Farmer was quick to praise the item, calling it "genius." However, the guest was left shocked by its incredible value.
He shared, "I know that its sibling was offered for sale in America about 18 months ago. It had a pre-sale auction estimate of $20,000 (£15,000) to $30,000 (£23,700)."
"Good heavens! That’s amazing," the guest exclaimed, visibly impressed. Farmer responded, "It is amazing. Because it actually sold for $65,000 (£51,400)." As the crowd reacted with astonishment, the guest's jaw dropped, and applause erupted from those watching as the remarkable figure sank in.
