Best horror movies on Netflix now including one with perfect Rotten Tomato score from critics

If you're in the mood for a scare, Netflix has you covered this Halloween season. The streamer has a giant horror line-up that ranges from spine-tingling supernatural thrillers to cult slashers, meaning there's something for everyone.
Here are some of the best horror movies that viewers in the UK can currently stream, including one that has earned a perfect score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
It's zombies — on a train! South Korea's breakout horror hit Train to Busan is still one of the most gripping and emotional zombie films of the 21st century. The film, which was directed by Yeon Sang-ho, follows the story of a group of passengers trapped on a high-speed train during a sudden outbreak of dead people violently coming back to life. The film's lead, Squid Game star Gong Yoo, is featured in some particularly tear-jerking moments as the tragic circumstances create a closer bond between him and his young daughter.
The film has been compared to 28 Days Later thanks to its high-energy, fast-moving zombies. The film became a global phenomenon when it first came out, grossing nearly $100 million at box office and cementing itself as a modern classic. It even inspired a sequel called Peninsula, which didn't do as well as the original, and an animated prequel, Seoul Station.
Remi Weekes' His House is more than a haunted house film — it's also an exploration of trauma, guilt, and displacement. The movie follows a refugee couple from war-torn Sudan called Bol and Rial as they settle into government housing in England, only to find themselves haunted by something dark and relentless.
With standout performances from Wunmi Mosaku and Sope Dirisu, His House delivers genuine scares while tackling the big issues of racism and assimilation. It is one of Netflix's majorly underrated horror films. Critics were so impressed by the flick that it received a perfect 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with one branding it "terrifying on a deep, emotional level".
Adapting Stephen King's "unfilmable" novel was no easy feat, but director Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass) rose to the challenge. Gerald's Game stars Carla Gugino as a woman left handcuffed to a bed after her husband dies of a heart attack during a romantic getaway.
The claustrophobic setup quickly descends into psychological horror, as she is forced to confront her deepest fears and worst memories in order to survive. Carla's performance is surprisingly riveting given she spends most of the film locked in one place, and Flanagan's deft direction turns a simple premise into a real gut-wrencher.
The Perfection, which Get Out's Allison Williams stars in alongside Logan Browning, is a twisted blend of psychological horror and body horror that keeps viewers guessing until the very end. The story follows two rival cellists whose reunion spirals into a shocking descent into madness.
The less you know going in, the better — but be prepared for some jaw-dropping moments. Tonally, the film is like a mix of Black Swan and Whiplash, but with a grotesque twist.
Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of the most influential horror films ever made, and still feels terrifying 50 years after its release. It set the standard for slashers with its gritty realism and unforgettable villain, Leatherface. If you have never seen this low-budget classic, now is the perfect time.
When four friends venture into the Swedish wilderness to honour a dead friend, they stumble upon a sinister force lurking in the forest. The Ritual is directed by David Bruckner, and showcases a masterful mix of psychological horror and folklore. If you go out into the woods one day, not going alone might not be enough to save you...
This film, directed by Australian brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, follows a group of teens who discover an embalmed hand that lets them communicate with the dead. But when they push the ritual too far, they unleash horrors beyond their control.
Talk To Me has been hailed as one of the most original horror films in years, and scored an impressive 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. As one fan put it: "Talk to Me isn't just a movie; it's an otherworldly journey that immerses you in unrelenting terror."
