Derek Hough May Have Revealed Sex of First Baby With Hayley Erbert
Derek Hough may have tangoed his way into a big reveal.
The Dancing With the Stars judge appeared to accidentally share the sex of his first baby with wife Hayley Ebert during the Oct. 14 Dedication Night episode of the ABC series.
During the episode, celebrity contestant Jordan Chiles performed a Viennese Waltz alongside her dad Timothy Chiles that was choreographed by her pro partner Ezra Sosa to John Mayer's song "Daughters." And following their emotional father-daughter dance, Derek—who shared he and Hayley are expecting their first baby together in July—admitted that he got choked up imagining having a similar experience one day.
"Watching you two dance really made me excited to have my own moment with my—" Derek told them during the judging portion of the show before appearing to stop himself from uttering the word "daughter" and saying, "with my own child."
"It's so beautiful," he added. "There was a tenderness. It was simple. There was a care to it, and I hope you both cherish that moment."
Indeed, Derek has previously shared his hopes to keep the his future little one's sex private, quipping during a Sept. 3 appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark, "You know, there's not a lot of surprises in life, right?"
He added, "We're going to keep that one to ourselves."
But Derek has provided a peek into other aspects of his new chapter, including Hayley's pregnancy journey.
In fact, last month, the 40-year-old showed off his wife's growing baby bump in a touching video.
Captioning the sweet footage of her holding her belly while sporting a few chic midi dresses, Derek—who tied the knot with Hayley in 2023 following eight years of dating—wrote on Instagram, "That’s my babie’S."
Plus, Hayley previously provided insight into how the couple were feeling after they found out they would be welcoming a new addition into their family.
“We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us,” the 31-year-old wrote alongside a July Instagram Reel that showed their baby's sonogram, “could be so small.”

Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert meet back in 2014 when she performed on his and sister Julianne Hough's tour. A Dancing With the Stars producer is impressed with Hayley and she is called to interview to join the show's troupe, getting the job the following year, according to the Hutchington News. Also in 2015, she and Derek begin dating.

Derek was by Hayley's side as she underwent emergency skull surgery due to a burst blood vessel. "It was a time filled with uncertainty and fear, going from living our dreams onstage, to a nightmare in an instant," he wrote on Instagram over a week later. "Her recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle."
After being given medical clearance to get back to performing, Hayley and Derek resumed their Symphony of Dance tour in April 2024. In October, she made her triumphant return to the ballroom as she joined her husband for an emotional routine set to Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things."
The couple announced they'd be welcoming a new addition to their family as they revealed they were expecting their first baby together. Alongside an Instagram video unveiling their unborn child's sonogram, Hayley wrote, "We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small."
