Disney Plus confirms return date for perfectly-rated series fans call a 'masterpiece'

Disney Plus confirms return date for perfectly-rated series fans call a 'masterpiece'

Disney Plus has just confirmed the return date for a perfectly-rated series fans called a 'masterpiece'.

Cosy crime series High Potential was a hit when it first hit UK screens back in January this year. It was also a hit back in the States and as a result network ABC didn't take long to renew it for a second season.

Even better is that fans will not have to wait nearly as long as they did the first time round to watch new episodes. It has now been confirmed that season two will premiere from September 17 in the UK.

This is just one day after the US date, which is a much quicker turnaround when British audiences were originally forced to wait around six months.

The full schedule has not been confirmed yet but with episodes landing just a day later, it is expected that new instalments will land on the Disney Plus streaming platform on a weekly basis.

It will be welcome news for fans, particularly after the first season's double cliffhanger. Based on the popular French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI), High Potential features It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson in a very different role as she plays Morgan.

She's a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.

Also returning are Daniel Sunjata as Detective Karadec, Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot and Judy Reyes as Selena.

Season two will also see Steve Howey join the cast as a series regular, playing Nick Wagner. When it was first released it briefly managed to register a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, since the finale aired this has since settled to a still impressive 96% rating.

One fan posting their thoughts of the series online simply claimed: "One of the best new shows of the year. Kaitlin Olson is refreshing and entertaining as Morgan."

While someone else described the show as "a hilarious and heart warming hidden gem." They added: "I just binge-watched High Potential and I'm still reeling from the experience. This show is an absolute masterpiece that will leave you laughing, crying, and rooting for its lovable characters."

They continued: "The writing is clever, witty, and relatable, tackling real-life issues with humour and sensitivity. What sets High Potential apart is its unique blend of humour and poignancy. One moment you're laughing out loud at a ridiculous joke, and the next, you're nodding in recognition at a character's vulnerability."

High Potential is streaming on Disney Plus.
