Photo: Kate Middleton’s Every Bit a Princess in Her Golden Silk Gown for State Banquet

All eyes were on Kate Middleton when she arrived at Windsor Castle on Wednesday in a golden silk gown alongside her husband, Prince William. Middleton looked every bit a princess in her attire for the state banquet, which King Charles III and Queen Camilla hosted for President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. However, the highlight of the dress was her late mother-in-law’s favorite Lover’s Knot Tiara, which the princess wore to complete her outfit.
Kate Middleton left her fans speechless when she arrived for the State Banquet dinner on September 17. She drew everyone’s attention in a stunning gold dress and the iconic Lover’s Knot Tiara. Middleton attended the dinner with her husband, Prince William. Although William looked dapper in his suit, it was the Princess of Wales who stole the limelight with her gown.
According to Today, British designer Phillipa Lepley crafted Middleton’s silk couture gown. It featured a floor-length evening coat with gold Chantilly lace detailing and hand-embroidered gold-corded roses. French knots and satin-stitched blooms were also part of the dress. Middleton even carried a pearl-encrusted clutch that complemented her outfit.
The princess completed her look with earrings. But the highlight of the dress was the Lover’s Knot Tiara — a known favorite accessory of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. Middleton wore the stunning diamond-and-pearl headpiece with an open mane that was curled at the end. The crown was created in 1914 for Queen Mary, according to Town & Country magazine. As per the court jeweller, Queen Mary commissioned “sacrificed a tiara from her own jewelry collection, the Ladies of England Tiara, to make it.” The headpiece was eventually passed down to Queen Elizabeth II.
Middleton also wore the tiara earlier this year in July at the State Banquet celebrating the arrival of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron. At the time, the princess sparkled in the crown for the first time in nearly two years. It was December 2023 when she last attended an event in the headpiece at Buckingham Palace.
Nevertheless, William was also looking sharp at the state dinner. He attended the State Banquet in a black Windsor tailcoat with red detailing at the shoulder and coat sleeves. He paired the coat with a white shirt and a bow tie. The couple completed their outfit with blue sashes and sported several medals.
