Watch out Freeview - new way to get Sky TV launches today with a surprisingly low price

Sky Glass AIr sale

The team at Freeview might be trying to tempt you away from pay TV with its new Freely platform but Sky is fighting back. The telly provider is finally unleashing its new Glass Air telly today and it starts from just £6 per month. For that pretty reasonable price you get a TV that connects to your broadband and then beams live and on-demand content to the 4K display over the web.

Thanks to that broadband connectivity, there's no need for a dish to be installed and you don't need an engineer to visit or start drilling holes in walls.

Along with access to swathes of premium and terrestrial channels including Sky Sports and Sky Cinema, there are also pre-installed apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ and Prime Video built in.

Other extras include personalised recommendations which offer content to watch for each member of the family, a full TV guide as well as a Playlists function which lets you store content to watch later. You'll also get a very smart hands-free voice remote control. That means it's possible to simply say “Hello Sky…” to turn on the TV, search for shows or genres from Sky and apps, adjust volume, add to Playlist and much more.

Sky Glass Air comes in three screen sizes (43”, 55”, and 65”) and three colours, including Sea Green, Carbon Grey, and Cotton White.

You'll find Glass Air on sale from today, June 10th. As we mentioned before, it starts from £6 per month although that's just for the TV and not things to watch on it.

On top of that £6 cost, you will also need to bolt on content packs, which start from £15 per month. That's for the basic Essential TV package. Of course, the more channels you add - like sports, movies and premium shows - the more the price will increase.

You can get the Glass Air and plenty of things to watch for as little as £21 per month - full pricing and ways to buy will go live on Tuesday, so watch this space.

Speaking about the update, Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW said, "With Sky Glass Air, we're bringing the Sky experience to more people through a beautifully designed TV with stunning picture quality from just £6 a month.

"It's all about giving people better for less: more choice, great tech, and the content they love, without compromising on quality. From the ultimate performance of Glass Gen 2 to the incredible value of Air, there’s now a Sky Glass to suit everyone, whether you’re new to Sky or already with us."
