Indian Arrivals to U.S. Drop After Record Demand Last Year

For the first time since Covid restrictions ended, the number of Indian tourists to the U.S. have declined this year. According to data from the U.S. International Trade Administration, a little over 1.28 million Indians visited the U.S. between January 1 and July 31 this year. This was a decline of 2.5% as compared to last year’s 1.31 million Indian visitors during the first seven months of the year.
While the decline seems modest, this is in stark contrast to the 35% increase seen between January-July 2024 as compared to 2023.
The number of visitors from India to the U.S. have been increasing significantly over the past few years. In January 2024, Indian tourists increased by 38% year-over-year, by 45% in February this was up 50%, while the March, April-June numbers were all up over 30%.
